Day by Day

Day 1

Overnight: Havana

The tour coordinator will greet everyone, and we will review the program schedule, emergency procedures and answer questions. After orientation we will set out with our tour coordinator to take a walk and explore the area around the hotel. At a restaurant, we will enjoy a welcome dinner with a delicious set menu.

Day 2

Overnight: Havana

Breakfast at the hotel. We will depart from the hotel by private bus towards Old Havana where we will meet a local expert who will lead our walking tour around the area, discovering the main colonial squares. We will continue visiting The Museum of The Revolution where we will learn the history of Cuba from the early 1960s to the present. In the afternoon a local expert will join us for a presentation on Sustainable Development in Cuba where we will learn how the economic, cultural and social aspects of the island contribute to develop a sustainable country.

Day 3

Overnight: Havana

Breakfast at the hotel. We will take a private bus to Caimito, a municipality nearby where a local and family-owned organopónico (local urban organic garden) provide vegetables to local people and famous restaurants in Havana. We will enjoy the most authentic flavors directly from the vegetable organic garden to the table. 

In the afternoon back in Havana, you will have free time to explore on your own.

Day 4

Overnight:  Viñales

Breakfast at the hotel. We will depart to Viñales Valley, UNESCO World Heritage Site, where we will enter Mogotes (limestone mounds) located on top of tobacco plantations and one of the most spectacular natural landscapes in the world. The first stop will be at the Botanical Garden, a sprawling garden which began in 1918. 

Afterwards, we will check in at Casas Particulares, private guest houses with all amenities which contribute to the local economy. Afterwards we’ll set out with our tour coordinator to take a walk and explore the area around Viñales.

Day 5

Overnight: Viñales

Breakfast at Casa Particular. We will visit a local farm that uses permaculture techniques and discover many other productions such as mango, guava, avocado, mandarin, banana, cotton, honey, etc. Also, the complete process of the drying and roasting on wood fire of the coffee harvest. 

Optional: Optional: horseback riding to enjoy the magic landscapes of the valley and discover more about the traditional tobacco culture and artisanal cigar production. 

After this, we will enjoy a delicious set menu at an ecological open-air restaurant, enjoying the magical landscape.

Day 6

Overnight: Viñales

After breakfast at Casa Particular, we will depart to Jutías Cay, one of the most popular virgin beaches in Pinar del Río. We will ride almendrones, strong and classical American cars, to go to this calm beach (33 miles approx.) Enjoy the mangroves, white sands and warm waters.

Lunch will be at the one and only restaurant at the seaside.

Day 7

Overnight: Havana

Breakfast at Casa Particular. After check-out we will return by private bus to Havana.

At night, we will have the opportunity to enjoy a freestyle jazz show at one of the most famous Jazz Clubs in Havana, where you can still feel in the atmosphere the energy of great musicians such as Chucho Valdés or George Benson.

Day 8

Overnight: Havana

Breakfast at the hotel. We will depart from the hotel by private bus towards Havana center to meet a local expert who will lead our walking tour around Cayo Hueso, the heart of the Afro-Cuban culture. There, we will have the opportunity to enjoy the Hamel Alley, an alley covered by paintings and renowned for the live rumba and percussion shows.

After lunch, we will visit the Revolution Square, venue used for the biggest politics celebrations. In the same Square, we will visit the José Martí Memorial, the highest tower in Havana with marvelous views of the city.

Day 9

Overnight: Havana

Breakfast at the hotel. We will spend the morning learning about one of the main financial sectors: Cuban tobacco. A local expert will guide us through the factory where each day, Cubans workers make the artisanal cigars which are distributed around the world.

Afterwards, we will be learning the differences between the state-government owned markets and the non-state-government agricultural markets, where Cubans buy their vegetables and other food. 

Free afternoon to explore or just relax.

Day 10

Overnight: Havana

Breakfast at the hotel. We will take a private bus to Regla, on the other side of the Havana Bay, where we will be visiting a Social Project that revitalizes the area by cleaning up and reusing the space for the use and benefit of children and other members of the community. 

After lunch, we will visit the old warehouse at Havana port, the San José Artisanal market, a huge local market where you can see the work of thousands of artisans. 

At night we will have a farewell dinner at a restaurant.

Day 11

Transfer to the airport at a designated time.

Angerona was one of the first coffee plantations in Cuba and nowadays is listed as a National Monument. Angerona employed 450 enslaved workers and boasted 750,000 coffee plants. A quiet and picturesque settlement has the feel of a latter-day Roman ruin.

Night at Arts Factory

Don’t miss the opportunity to know one of the best artistic projects in Cuba. An intellectual center with live music, arts expositions, fashion shows accompanied by cocteles or coffee. With a marked social and community focus, It’s located in an old oil factory, you may mingle with artis, musics and other local customers.
