Day by Day

Day 1

Overnight: Barcelona

The tour coordinator will greet everyone and we will review the program schedule, emergency procedures and answer questions. After orientation, we will set out with our tour coordinator to take a walk and explore the area around the hotel. At a restaurant, we´ll enjoy a welcome dinner with a delicious set menu.

Day 2

Overnight: Barcelona

After breakfast at hotel a local expert will join us and give us an introduction on the History of Catalonia. Then, we will enjoy a panoramic bus tour through Barcelona.

In the afternoon, at the hotel meeting room, a local expert will join us for a presentation on Medieval Art. Afterwards, we will depart from the hotel to enjoy an expert-lead walk through the Gothic Quarter and visit treasures such as the Plaza Felipe Neri, the Roman Columns, and Plaza del Pi.

Day 3

Overnight: Barcelona

After breakfast, a local expert will join us at the hotel for a presentation on Modernism: Architecture, Art and Life. Then, we will depart from the hotel by private bus for a visit to two of Antoni Gaudí´s masterworks, the enormous basilica known as La Sagrada Familia (The Sacred Family) and the exotic Park Güell, Gaudí’s outdoor residential project.

After these visits, we will have free time to explore the city and our tour coordinator will be happy to offer suggestions.

Day 4

Overnight: Barcelona

After breakfast, we will set out with a local expert for a day trip to Figueres, the birthplace of Salvador Dalí. Upon arrival, we will visit the Dalí Theatre-Museum, the world’s largest surrealist art object. Then, we will be transferred to Púbol to have lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, we will continue to Gala Dalí Castle Museum-House where we will enjoy an expert-led visit.  Afterwards, we will return to Barcelona, with approximate arrival in the late afternoon.

Day 5

Overnight: Vielha

Breakfast at hotel. After check-out, we will take a private bus to Vielha, capital of the Aran Valley. En route, we will stop at a Cava winery, where we will enjoy an expert-led visit and a wine tasting session. Then, we will have lunch at a restaurant on route. After that, we will continue to Vielha.

Upon arrival, after checking in at the hotel and settling into our rooms, we will have an orientation walk followed by a lecture on Geography, Climate & Nature of the Pyrenees given by a local expert.

Day 6

Activity notes: 4 hours of walking through natural trails, up to 6 miles, total ascent 660 feet

Overnight: Vielha

After breakfast, we will depart by bus to Caldes de Boi, where we will meet a local expert to start our walk. We will follow the old water path that linked the town of Pont de Suert with the town of La Vall de Boì. We will continue our hike to finish at Erill la Vall, where we will visit the church of Santa Eulalia and the Romanesque Center. Then, we will have some free time for lunch. Afterwards, we will return to Vilha and we expect to arrive in the late afternoon.

Day 7

Activity notes: 3-4 hours of walking through natural trails, up to 7 miles, total ascent 660 feet

Overnight: Vielha

We will depart by bus to Boi, where we will meet a local expert who will accompany us during the walk. Upon arrival, we will take a taxi to Planell d’Aigüestortes, where we will start the hike, whose path runs parallel to the river of Saint Nicolas. Along the trail, we will admire the breathtaking landscapes until we arrive at Estany Llong, where we will have our picnic lunch. Then, we will return along the same path and we will take the bus to come back to Vielha. We expect to arrive in the late afternoon.

Day 8

Overnight: Barcelona

Breakfast at hotel. After check-out, we’ll be transferred by private bus to Barcelona. We expect to arrive late in the morning. After checking in at the hotel and settling into our rooms, we will have free time to pack, explore or just relax.

Afterwards, we will gather together at the hotel for a walk to a restaurant, where we will have our farewell dinner.

Day 9

Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to the airport at a designated time.

Day Trip to Tarragona

Learn more about the Roman culture and the history of Tarragona. We will meet a local expert who will guide our visits to the Roman Circus and the Roman Amphitheater while explaining the history of the ancient city of Tarraco. Afterwards we will enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant.
Museo Nacional de Arte Catalán

National Museum of Catalan Art

Be amazed by the historical building where the museum is located, built on the occasion of the international exhibition of 1929. Once there, an expert will guide us through a selection of the most representative works of the museum’s collections of Romanesque and Gothic art. We will conclude the visit on the terrace where we will enjoy one of the best panoramic views of Barcelona.

Casa Museu Amatller

Discover this jewel of Catalan modernism, designed in 1900 and on which façade you will see the reinterpretation of different architectural styles. An expert will lead a guided visit to its interior where we will see the original furniture and decoration.
