Day by Day

Day 1

Overnight: Barcelona

The tour coordinator will greet everyone and we will review the program schedule, emergency procedures and answer questions. After orientation, we will set out with our tour coordinator to take a walk and explore the area around the hotel. At a restaurant, we´ll enjoy a welcome dinner with a delicious set menu.

Day 2

After breakfast, a local expert will join us for a presentation on The Mediterranean Legacy of Spain, in which we will learn about the great importance of the Mediterranean coast and why it is not just a destiny for vacation or visitors. Then, we will depart by bus to the Maritime Museum, where we will enjoy an expert-led visit.

In the afternoon, in the hotel meeting room, our expert lecturer will offer us a presentation on Medieval Art. Afterwards, we will depart from the hotel to enjoy an expert-led walk through the Gothic Quarter and visit treasures such as the Plaza Felipe Neri, the Roman Columns, and Plaza del Pi.

Day 3

Overnight: Barcelona

After breakfast, a local expert will join us at the hotel for a presentation on Modernism: Architecture, Art and Life. Then, we will depart by private bus for a visit to two of Antoni Gaudí´s masterworks, the enormous basilica known as La Sagrada Familia (The Sacred Family) and the exotic Parque Güell, Gaudí’s outdoor residential project.

In the afternoon, we will have free time to explore the city, and our tour coordinator will be happy to offer suggestions.

Day 4

Overnight: Barcelona

After breakfast, a local expert will join us for a presentation on Mediterranean Spanish Cuisine. Then, we will depart by bus to a local market where a gastronomic expert will show us the wide range of products available in Barcelona. Afterwards, we will enjoy a hands-on cooking class led by a local chef, in which we will learn about Catalan and Spanish dishes.

After enjoying the meal we cooked, we will have a free afternoon to pack, explore or just relax.

Day 5

Overnight: Valencia

Breakfast at hotel. After check-out, we will be transferred by private bus to Valencia. On route, we will stop in Tarragona, where we will meet a local expert who will lead our visits to the Roman Circus and the Roman Amphitheater. During our walking tour, we will learn more about the Roman culture and the history of Tarragona. Afterwards, we will have lunch at a local restaurant. Then, we will continue our transfer to Valencia.

After checking in at the hotel and settling into our rooms, we will have an orientation walk followed by dinner at the hotel restaurant.

Day 6

Overnight: Valencia

After breakfast, we will depart for a walk with a local expert to discover the hidden corners and historical buildings of Valencia’s Historic Old Center. Along the walk the same expert will guide our explorations of the Cathedral and San Nicolas Church. The Cathedral of Valencia was built between the 13th and 15th centuries and it is one of the oldest Spanish Gothic cathedrals. During the visit, we will enjoy the views from El Miguelete, the bell tower and symbol of the city. Then, we will visit the church of San Nicolas, considered the Sistine chapel of Valencia.

Afterwards, we will have free time to explore the city and our tour coordinator will be happy to offer suggestions.

Day 7

Overnight: Valencia

After breakfast, we will set out with a local expert for a day trip to Sagunto. Sagunto was founded in 219 BC. Once we arrive, we will visit the medieval Sagunto Castle, the Roman Theater and Via del Portic. A local expert will accompany us along the walk, providing us with great information about the long history of the city. Then, we will have a short free time for lunch.

In the afternoon, we will return to Valencia to pack and have our farewell dinner.

Day 8

Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to the airport at a designated time.

The Alcazar Royal Palace Tour

The Alcazar of Seville was built as a fortress to protect the Muslim authorities and is currently the oldest royal palace in Europe. It was built in 913 by the Umayyad caliph Abderraman III as a new government center in Seville. Discover through a guided tour the various architectural styles and cultures that mix Baroque with Renaissance, Romanesque, Gothic and Mudejar.

National Museum of Catalan Art

Be amazed by the historical building where the museum is located, built on the occasion of the international exhibition of 1929. Once there, an expert will guide us through a selection of the most representative works of the museum’s collections of Romanesque and Gothic art. We will conclude the visit on the terrace where we will enjoy one of the best panoramic views of Barcelona.

Casa Museu Amatller

Discover this jewel of Catalan modernism, designed in 1900 and on which façade you will see the reinterpretation of different architectural styles. An expert will lead a guided visit to its interior where we will see the original furniture and decoration.

Spanish Civil War Bomb Shelter

Learn about one of the most tragic periods of the city’s history visiting one of the spanish civil war bomb shelters. More than 1,400 bomb shelters were built in Barcelona to protect citizens from the constant bombardments.
