Day by Day

Day 1

Overnight: Madrid

The tour coordinator will greet everyone and we will review the program schedule, emergency procedures and answer questions. After orientation we will set out with our tour coordinator to take a walk and explore the area around the hotel.At a restaurant, we´ll enjoy a welcome dinner with a delicious set menu.

Day 2

Overnight: Madrid

After breakfast we will depart from the hotel by private bus towards the Royal Palace where we will meet a local expert who will lead our visit through this marvelous Palace. Although it is no longer the Royal Family’s Home, it continues to be the site of official ceremonies and state events. Built in the 18th Century it was inspired by Bernini’s sketches for the Louvre in Paris with courtyards, galleries and a parade ground.

In the afternoon at the hotel, a local expert will join us for a presentation on Geography and Early History of the Iberian Peninsula and after a short break we will have a second presentation on Contemporary Spain given by the same expert.  

Day 3

Overnight: Madrid

After breakfast we will take a private bus to the Prado Museum for an expert-led visit. The Prado National Museum is one of the world’s leading galleries with a superb collection from the 12th century to the early 19th century. Among the masterpieces are works by Bosch, El Greco, Goya, Raphael, Rubens, Titian, Van Eyck, Velázquez, and many more. The Prado has become a prized destination for art lovers. After the visit, we will have free time to explore the city, your tour coordinator will be happy to offer suggestions.

Day 4

Overnight: Madrid

After breakfast we will depart from the hotel by private bus for a full-day field trip to explore some of the most important sites in medieval Toledo with its heritage of three co-existing cultures: Jewish, Christian, and Muslim. A local expert will lead our walk through the walled city including the Cathedral, the Sephardic Jewish Museum, and the Church of Santo Tomé which holds a painting by El Greco. Afterwards, we will have lunch at a local restaurant. Then, we will enjoy a short free time in Toledo to explore on your own and return to Madrid late afternoon. 

Day 5

Overnight: Granada

Breakfast at hotel. After check-out we will begin our transfer by private bus to Granada. On route, we will stop to explore the Museum of Olive Culture and production, situated in the protected environment Complejo Natural de La Laguna. We will learn from an expert about the history and production of this important Spanish export and taste the liquid gold. Later, at a nearby restaurant we will enjoy a delicious set menu. After lunch we will continue to Granada and we expect to arrive late afternoon.

After checking in at the hotel and settling into your room we will have an orientation walk of the area around the hotel.

Day 6

Overnight: Granada

After breakfast we will spend the morning at the magnificent Alhambra Palace and Generalife gardens with a local expert. The Alhambra is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the world’s most significant examples of Islamic art.

In the afternoon we will meet with a local expert at the hotel meeting room who will give us a presentation on Moorish Spain and its influences. 

Day 7

Overnight: Granada

After breakfast we will depart by private bus to meet a local expert for a walk to the Albayzin, with its well-preserved Moorish streets. The Albayzin is Granada’s oldest Arab district, situated on the hill across from the Alhambra. Afterwards we will walk with the same expert on a field trip to the Royal Chapel, final resting place of King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella.

Then we will have free time to explore the city, your tour coordinator will be happy to offer suggestions.

Day 8

Overnight: Seville

Breakfast at hotel. After check-out we will be transferred by private bus to Seville. On route, we will stop in Cordova, the crossroads of civilizations, and the mainstay of Islamic and Jewish heritage in Spain. While here, we’ll enjoy expert-led explorations of the Great Mosque and Cathedral, and one of the last-standing ancient synagogues in Spain. Afterwards we will enjoy a short free time in Cordoba to have lunch.Then, we will continue to Seville and we expect to arrive late afternoon.

After checking in at the hotel and settling into your room we will have an orientation walk.

Day 9

Overnight: Seville

After breakfast we will meet with a local expert who will lead us inside one of the world´s largest Cathedrals, enriched with historical treasures and art.

In the afternoon, we will walk to Alandis Travel  headquarters, an 18th century old mansion, where we will meet with a local expert who will give us a presentation on the art of Flamenco Dance and Music. Then we will walk to a local “tablao” for a special flamenco music and dance show. 

Day 10

Overnight: Seville

After breakfast we will depart for a walk with our tour coordinator to the extraordinary Alcazar Royal Palace where we will meet a local expert who will lead us through this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Afterwards, we will depart by private bus to have a hands-on cooking class led by a local chef. We will learn about and cook the most popular traditional Spanish dish: Paella. 

After enjoying the meal we cooked we will have free time to pack, explore or just relax. 

Day 11

Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to the airport at a designated time.

Day Trip to Ronda

Discover this wonderful white village located in the Serranía de Ronda. Once we arrive we will meet an expert who will guide us on our walk through the village. During the walk we will learn about the unique role that Ronda played during the Spanish Civil War. After the walk, we will visit the oldest bullring in Spain accompanied by the same expert. Then we will enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant. Afterwards we will return to Seville.

Itálica

Discover the Roman ruins of Itálica, just outside Seville. This city was founded in 206 BC and was the birthplace of the emperors Trajano and Adriano. An expert will lead our walk through its ancient streets where we will discover well-preserved mosaics, the ancient major baths and its famous amphitheater, which was one of the locations of the Game of Thrones series.
Cartuja Monastery, Granada, Spain

Monastery of La Cartuja

This monastery, active from the 16th to the 19th century, is unique in its kind. An expert will guide our visit to this marvelous monument. We will observe the contrast between the austere common rooms and the decorative exuberance of the church with some of the masterpieces of the Spanish baroque.

Royal Botanic Garden of Madrid

Enjoy the calmness of nature in the very heart of Madrid. An expert will introduce us to the knowledge of botanical science and guide us through more than two centuries of history, helping us to have a greater understanding of the garden.
