Day by Day
Day 1
Overnight: Seville
The tour coordinator will greet everyone and we will review the program schedule, emergency procedures and answer questions. After orientation, we will set out with our tour coordinator to take a walk and explore the area around the hotel. At a restaurant, we´ll enjoy a welcome dinner with a delicious set menu.
Day 2
Overnight: Seville
After breakfast, we will walk to Alandis headquarters, an 18th century old mansion, where we will be joined by a local expert who will give us a presentation on Spain’s Geography and Climate. Then, we will meet a local expert who will lead us inside the Cathedral, one of the world´s largest and most packed with historic treasures and art.
In the afternoon, we will meet a local expert who will accompany us to the extraordinary Alcázar Royal Palace and lead us through this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Next, we will walk around Seville’s oldest neighborhood and former Jewish quarter, the “Barrio of Santa Cruz”.
Day 3
Overnight: Seville
After breakfast, we will depart for a walk with our tour coordinator to the extraordinary Fine Arts Museum, where we will meet a local expert who will show us the brilliant works of 17th century Spanish Masters of Art such as Velázquez, Zurbarán, and Murillo. Then, we will depart by private bus to spend the rest of the morning visiting an Olive Oil Mill. An expert will give a lecture on the production of the golden liquid of Spain and we will have an olive oil tasting session.
Then, we will return to Seville and we will have the rest of the day free to explore the city, for which our tour coordinator will be happy to offer suggestions.
Day 4
Overnight: Mérida
Breakfast at hotel. After check-out, we’ll be transferred by private bus to Mérida. On route, we will stop to visit the town of Trujillo. Trujillo is a city full of well-preserved medieval mansions and palaces, as a consequence of the fortune obtained after the Spanish expansion in America. The Spanish conquistador Francisco de Pizarro was born in this city. Upon arrival, we will meet a local expert who will introduce us to the history of the city and lead us throughout the Pizarro Museum and the Castle of Trujillo. Then, at a restaurant, we will enjoy a delicious set menu. After lunch, we will continue to Mérida, expecting to arrive late in the afternoon.
After checking in at the hotel and settling into our rooms, we will have an orientation walk around the hotel.
Day 5
Overnight: Salamanca
Breakfast at hotel. After check-out, we will meet a local expert who will accompany us through the Roman Ruins and the Roman Art Museum. During these visits, we will learn more about the Roman culture and history of the Peninsula. Then, we will be transferred by private bus to Salamanca. We expect to arrive late in the morning.
In the afternoon, we will meet with a local expert who will take us on a fantastic walk to discover the hidden corners and historical buildings of this UNESCO Heritage Site.
Day 6
Overnight: Santiago
Breakfast at hotel. After check-out, we will meet a local guide for an expert-lead visit to the New Cathedral and the University of Salamanca. The New Cathedral is one of Salamanca’s two cathedrals and was built between the 16th and 18th centuries with late Gothic and Baroque architectural styles. The University of Salamanca was founded by Alfonso IX in 1218 and it is the oldest university in Spain. Afterwards, we will begin our transfer by private bus to Santiago. En route, we will make a stop in Astorga to enjoy an expert-led visit of Gaudi’s Palace. This masterpiece was built between 1889 and 1913 in a modernist style and it is one of the only three buildings designed by Gaudí to be found outside of Catalonia. Then, at a nearby restaurant, we’ll enjoy a set menu. After lunch, we will continue to Santiago and we expect to arrive in the late afternoon.
After checking in at the hotel and settling into our rooms, we will enjoy a delicious dinner.
Day 7
Overnight: Santiago
After breakfast, we will meet with a local expert who will lead us inside the Pobo Galego Museum, where we will spend the morning learning more about Galician Culture. Afterwards, we will have the rest of the day free to explore the city, and our tour coordinator will be happy to offer suggestions.
Day 8
Overnight: Santiago
After breakfast, we will set out with a local expert for a day trip to the Costa Da Morte. We will make a stop in Muros, a picturesque old fishing village. Then, we will continue to Ézaro, where we will discover an impressive panoramic view of a spectacular waterfall flowing to the sea. Afterwards, we will head on to Finisterre, where we will end our day trip. Finisterre was considered to be “the end of the ancient world” and it is the place where pilgrims arriving from Compostela come across the immensity of the Atlantic Ocean. We will have lunch at a nearby restaurant.
After lunch, we will return to Santiago to pack and have our farewell dinner.
Day 9
Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to the airport at a designated time.
