Day by Day

Day 1

Overnight: Madrid

Arrival in Madrid. Transfer to hostel. The tour coordinator will greet everyone and will review the program schedule, emergency procedures, and answer questions. After orientation, we will set out with our tour coordinator to take a walk and explore the area around the hostel. At a restaurant, we will enjoy a delicious welcome dinner.

Day 2

Overnight: Madrid
Breakfast at hostel. We will depart by private bus for a full-day field trip to explore some of the most important sites in medieval Toledo with its heritage of three co-existing cultures: Jewish, Christian, and Muslim. A local expert will lead our walk through the walled city including the Cathedral, the Sephardic Jewish Museum, and the Church of Santo Tomé which holds a painting by El Greco. Lunch on own. After that, we will have some short free time in Toledo to explore on our own and return to Madrid in the late afternoon. Dinner on own.

Day 3

Overnight: Madrid
Breakfast at hostel. After breakfast, we will have a bike tour around the city center and Retiro park, visiting landmarks such as Puerta del Sol, Cibeles Fountain and the Crystal Palace. Lunch on own. Afterwards, we will be transferred to the train station, where we will take a train to Seville. After checking in at our residence, dinner on own.

Day 4

Overnight: Seville

Breakfast at residence. After breakfast, we will have free time to explore on our own or just relax. Lunch on own. In the afternoon, we will depart to Alandis Headquarters, a beautiful XIX century Andalusian house, where a local expert will accompany us in a brief walk of the area around the headquarters. After coming back there, we will meet up with local students and have an exchange activity with them. Dinner on own.

Day 5

Overnight: Granada

Breakfast at residence. Afterwards, we will depart by private bus to Cordova, the crossroads of civilizations, and the mainstay of Islamic and Jewish heritage in Spain. After lunch on own, we will enjoy expert-led explorations of the Jewish Quarter. The experts will also walk us through two of the greatest wonders of Andalusia: one of the last-standing ancient synagogues in Spain and the Great Mosque and Cathedral, known as La Mezquita. Then, we will depart to Seville. Dinner on own.

Day 6

Overnight: Seville

Breakfast at residence. We will meet a local expert who will lead us in our explorations of Seville by kayak. We will be able to appreciate landmarks of the city from an unusual point of view, allowing us to enjoy impressive view, such as that of The Triana Bridge from below. Lunch on own. In the afternoon, we will depart to Alandis Headquarters, where we will meet up with local students and have an exchange activity with them. Dinner on own.

Day 7

Breakfast at residence. Transfer to the airport at one designated time.

Ceramic Painting Workshop

Ceramic Painting Workshop

Learn from an expert about the history and main techniques of Sevillian ceramics while we paint a tile that you can take home as a souvenir. Afterwards, with the same expert, we will visit the ceramic museum located in the well-known neighborhood of Triana.

Itálica

Discover the Roman ruins of Itálica, just outside Seville. This city was founded in 206 BC and was the birthplace of the emperors Trajano and Adriano. An expert will lead our walk through its ancient streets where we will discover well-preserved mosaics, the ancient major baths and its famous amphitheater, which was one of the locations of the Game of Thrones series.

El Rastro Quarter Walking Tour

Discover the famous Rastro neighborhood of Madrid. An expert will explain how the Rastro began and how the first slaughterhouses in Madrid and tanneries were. We will learn about the history of Madrid’s “corralas”, analyzing their architecture and learning more about how the people of Madrid lived in the past. We will visit the Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions where we will learn about the crafts and the industrial past of Madrid. A visit that will surprise you and will help you to have a deeper knowledge of Madrid.
