Day by Day

Day 1

Overnight: San Juan

The tour coordinator will welcome you and we will go over the program schedule, emergency procedures and answer any questions. After the orientation, we will explore the area around the hotel with our group leader. At a local restaurant, we will enjoy a delicious menu as a welcome dinner.

Day 2

Overnight: San Juan

Breakfast at hotel. We will depart by bus to the town of Cataño, where you will see the breathtaking view of the Bay of San Juan and El Morro Fort. From Cataño, we will take a ferry across the Bay of San Juan, where we will enjoy a  guided walking tour around San Juan, covering the major points of interest. We will walk to our cooking class, where we will learn how to prepare the famous Puerto Rican dish Mofongo, and there we will enjoy our own creation for lunch. Finally, after lunch, we will end our day with a visit to the El Morro Castle, the largest fortress built in the New World, where you will receive a guided tour of the castle. At the end of the trip, you’ll have the opportunity to return to the hotel or explore the area on your own. 

Day 3

Overnight: Mayagüez

Breakfast at hotel. We will depart early in our bus to the city of Mayagüez, located in the west of the island. Upon arrival, we will check in at the hotel and have free time for lunch on our own. Feel free to ask your tour coordinator for restaurant recommendations. At a designated time, we will meet at the hotel to go out to visit the Yagüez Theater and the cathedral. 

Day 4

Overnight: Mayagüez

Breakfast at hotel. We will take the bus to the nearby town of Aguadilla where we will discover its macromural, a mosaic along the coastline of Cerro Cabrera of Aguadilla consisting of 10 intermixed colors . We will continue our trip to the Pyramid of Aguada, a construction built by a local engineer and inspired by the Mayan and Inca cultures. After this, we will have lunch on our own and a chance to rest in the afternoon. We will go out together to enjoy a delicious dinner and after sunset, we will go to La Parguera, to enjoy the beautiful Bioluminescent Bay on a kayak tour.Breakfast at hotel. We

Day 5

Overnight: San Juan

We will have breakfast at the hotel, pick up our belongings and depart by bus to Cabo Rojo. Here, we will visit the wildlife refuge, 1,836 acres that provide refuge habitat for several species of endangered native birds including unique species such as the Puerto Rican mariquita or capitán. Afterward, we will visit the lighthouse, where we will enjoy the breathtaking views of the coast. Before heading back, we will stop in Poblado for lunch on our own and finally take the road to San Juan. We will check in at the hotel and have free time.

Day 6

Overnight: San Juan

After breakfast at the hotel, we will take our private bus to the Museo of the Americas, where we will enjoy its four permanent exhibitions: Popular Arts in the Americas, The African heritage, The Indigenous of America and Conquest and Colonization: birth and evolution of the Puerto Rican nation. After this visit, we will depart for Casa Blanca, the home of Ponce de León. Located in Old San Juan and founded in 1521, this museum is considered the oldest structure in Puerto Rico, preserving authentic details of the time. We will have lunch together with a delicious set menu. Then, we will go to Casa Cortés Art Gallery and taste its famous chocolate while learning about its history.

Day 7

Overnight: San Juan

Breakfast at hotel. The bus will be waiting for us to depart for Arecibo to visit the city. Then we will continue to Utuado, where the Caguana Ceremonial Center is located. It is the most important restored archaeological site in Puerto Rico. We will learn about its history and see the ten bateyes surrounded by a variety of stones with petroglyphs. We will enjoy a group lunch and after this, we will return to San Juan. In the late afternoon we will gather for our farewell dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 8

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the airport at the indicated time.

This route will take us to the northern region of Puerto Rico, where we will navigate the towns of Arecibo, Vega Alta y Vega Baja. Our first stop will be the beautiful waterfalls of Río Tanama in Arecibo, where you will be immersed in nature at one of the island’s most striking waterfalls. This semi-adventure tour includes a short hike along the river to one of Puerto Rico’s hidden treasures: Playa Vega Baja in the scenic town of Vega Baja. This immense and remote beach is perfect for those wishing to rock-climb or just enjoy natural views, far from city crowds and other tourists. Last but not least, we will visit El Manantial de Tortuguero, a lovely natural pool surrounded by pristine, leafy landscapes and the songs of local bird species. This outing takes 5-6 hours, including travel time.
